Terms & Conditions

Please read our terms and conditions for Services and Classes (and bookings) with Wirebird Designs, below.

Services

Quotations

  • All quotations are provided free of charge unless otherwise stated and are valid for 30 days from the date issued.
  • Quotations are based on the information available at the time and may be subject to change if additional work becomes necessary after the project has commenced.
  • Any additional costs will always be discussed with you before work continues.

Deposits and Payment

  • A deposit of 50% is required before materials are ordered and work begins.
  • The remaining balance is payable on completion and prior to collection or delivery of your finished item unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • Ownership of the finished item remains with the business until payment has been received in full.

Customer Supplied Fabrics and Materials

  • If you choose to supply your own fabric or materials, you are responsible for ensuring they are suitable for the intended purpose.
  • While every care is taken during manufacture, I cannot accept responsibility for faults in customer-supplied fabrics or materials, including weave faults, dye inconsistencies, shrinkage, flaws, insufficient quantities or fabric performance.
  • Should additional fabric or materials be required due to shortages or defects, any associated costs will be your responsibility.

Fabrics and Materials Supplied by Me

  • Where I source fabrics, trims, foam, or other materials on your behalf, these will only be ordered once your deposit has been received.
  • As many fabrics and materials are cut to order or specially ordered, they cannot usually be returned or refunded once purchased.

Re-Upholstery

  • Re-upholstery often reveals issues that cannot identified before existing coverings are removed.
  • These may include damaged timber frames, loose joints, broken springs, worn webbing, degraded fillings, woodworm or other structural defects.
  • Should additional repairs be required, I will contact you with recommendations and a quotation before carrying out any extra work.
  • Whilst every effort is made to preserve your furniture, I cannot be held responsible for damage resulting from age, condition or previous repairs to the item.

Curtain and Blind Making

  • Curtains, blinds and other window furnishings are made to the measurements provided or those taken during a measuring appointment.
  • Where customers provide their own measurements, I cannot accept responsibility for incorrect sizing or fitting.
  • I recommend using my measuring service wherever possible.
  • Pattern matching, fabric repeats and the natural characteristics of fabrics will be taken into account during manufacture.

Cushion Making

  • All cushions are handmade to the agreed measurements and specifications.
  • Due to the bespoke nature of handmade soft furnishings, slight variations in dimensions (within normal manufacturing tolerances), pattern placement and finishing are not considered faults.

Completion, Collection and Storage

  • You will be notified when your order is complete.
  • Items should be collected within 14 days of notification unless alternative arrangements have been agreed.
  • Items remaining after this period may incur a storage charge of £5 per day.
  • Any items left uncollected for more than six months without communication may be disposed of or sold to recover outstanding costs, where permitted by law.

Cancellations

  • As all upholstery and soft furnishing work is made to your individual specification, your order is considered a bespoke contract.
  • Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, bespoke or made-to-measure goods are generally exempt from the statuary 14-day cancellation period once work has commenced or materials have been ordered.
  • If you choose to cancel your order after work has started, you will remain responsible for:
    • The cost of any materials already purchased.
    • Payment for work completed up to the date of cancellation.
    • Any non-recoverable costs reasonably incurred.

Delivery
